Choosing the Right Corset Size

Length

The most important aspect of a corset is the fit both in the waist size and the length.

Our Dita range is cut longer in the body to cover the hips and offers more coverage in the bust area.

The Ella range is shorter in the body which means it ids higher at the hips and lower at the bust.  It is ideal for our flirty or petite customers.

Waist Size

Corsets are sized by waist size, in 2 inch increments.

You should order your corset to be 2-4 inches below your natural waist measurement, depending on the desired effect.

Measure around the narrowest part of your waist 2 or 3 times to be accurate and don't pull the tape tightly, just keep it snug.

If you are tiny, then your waist will not compress as easily nor as far, as a person who is larger.

We recommend ordering a corset 2 inches your natural waist size for the inexperienced or casual corset wearer.

Enjoying your Corset

If you’ve never worn a corset before, it may be a slightly unusual sensation of wearing something so fitted but, if you’ve followed the guidelines above, your corset should be comfortable and enjoyable to wear.

1.   Never squeeze yourself into the wrong size because you run the risk of the corset tearing.

2.   Don’t lace your corset too tightly during the first few weeks of wear.  It should be ‘broken in’ and it will allow the

fabric to mould evenly to your body shape.

3.   If you are considering a corset for your wedding day, we would always recommend you order a corset with a modesty

panel which will hide the crease of your skin at the back.  All our corsets come with these.

Caring for your Corset

With some simple TLC, your corset should give you many years of happy wearing.

1.   Corsets should be aired laying flat, or hung by the laces over the top of a chair, with the halves of the corset on either

      side.

2.    Don’t roll your corset up for storage.

3.    A corset should really be dry cleaned, but if you must wash your corset follow the guidelines below:

      i)    NEVER wash your corset in a washing machine!

ii)   Wash by hand in warm water with a mild powder and use a non-biological detergent.  (Biological powder “eats” the

fabric over time and any deterioration in will vastly shorten the corset’s life.)

iii)   Rinse well in running cold water - just swish it around until the water runs clear but do not wring it.

iv)   Lay the wet corset on a flat towel and rub gently to remove as much moisture as possible.

       v)   Dry on a frame, as you would a real wool garment, and NEVER place near a heat source like a radiator, as it can

warp the steels and cause uneven drying, which will warp the garment itself.

Corsets should not be washed frequently, as the metalwork, even though it may be stainless, will start to corrode and this will eventually show.  Consider wearing a light chemise or a thin bandeau top underneath to prevent the need to wash it often.
